alternativeIndependent and family-run For the past 150 years, Chopard has remained a fully independent family business. Under the impetus of Karl and Karin Scheufele, as well as their two children, Karl-Friedrich Scheufele and Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele, the current co-presidents, the firm has enjoyed spectacular expansion and has become one of the great names in the luxury and jewellery industry. Unlike most of its competitors, Chopard can legitimately claim to master both Haute Joaillerie and Haute Horlogerie by drawing upon traditional expertise, state-of-the-art technologies and a spirit of constant innovation. Extreme vertical integration In order to ensure optimal execution of its products and maintain its independence, almost the entire range of manufacturing processes (95%) takes place in-house: from development to assembly and from gold casting to component production. An intensely creative universe Each model, each variation and each one-of-a-kind Chopard creation has its own unique story. A spontaneous idea sometimes results in a wonderfully successful collection. Any possibilities are considered and creativity is given pride of place. The imprint of tradition Respect for time-honoured techniques, skills and precision craftsmanship still pervade all of the company activities. The human hand often works more accurately than machines, an approach that sometimes lengthens production time, but is governed by a determination to create products imbued with perfect quality and optimal precision. The quest for excellence All timepieces developed and produced by Chopard are ‘Swiss Made’ certified. They are produced in Geneva or in Fleurier (Val-de-Travers), two regions with long-established watchmaking traditions. Symbolising this unwavering commitment to excellence, Chopard men’s timepieces as well as some ladies’ watches meet the most demanding quality and precision criteria such as those laid down for COSC chronometer certification, for the Poinçon de Genève quality hallmark, and for the Fleurier Quality Foundation label. Some jewellery models are produced by the company’s artisans in Pforzheim, Germany – a region also renowned for high-end jewellery, whereas the unique Haute Joaillerie creations are crafted in the Geneva workshops. Whether made in Geneva, Fleurier or Pforzheim, all Chopard products meet the same high quality standards that have made and continue to make Chopard an international benchmark in the twin fields of watchmaking and jewellery.
